Lean In ESC

My interest in starting this group was driven by my desire to be as successful as I can be and that drive comes in the form of daily inspiration from my peers and faculty at ESC, friends, family and Sheryl Sandberg. Sheryl is the COO of Facebook and the author of "Lean In - Women, Work And The Will To Lead." So much of Sheryl's vision is that of my own and when I first learned about Lean In Circles I immediately had to get involved. “Lean In Circles” are small peer groups that meet for support, networking, knowledge sharing and can be held in any kind of setting whether face-to-face or virtually. This movement is global and growing bigger every day. The concept is for women and men to discuss work/life balance, goals and achievements, offer support to each other and share knowledge. Although the main focus of this group is empowering women, the group is also open to men. As more doors open for women becoming successful in leaderships roles, executive positions and in general, having a “Circle” at ESC is ideal to advocate women empowerment. I believe an environment with no pressures of assignments and deadlines, but more so a place to give and receive support for educational goals and career paths as well as increase skills and knowledge on multiple levels, will benefit anyone who attends whether a student or faculty member.
